Library thing, Rollyo

My creativity is not such that avatars are easy. I was happy with Wharholizer from FD Toys.

Created my Library thing list. I wondered how the Book Suggester would work. I put in one of my titles Not on our watch: The mission to end genocide in Darfur and beyond and I think it killed it. Perhaps I should have put in a Grisham title.

The couple of examples on the 23things instructions given were not very inspiring. I was not at all sure what the Washington State Library example proved. But I did think of a possible application for this program - a small organization with a library and no expertise to catalog what they have. My little list seems cute rather than helpful, but this program may have a use after all. But I need to see how extensive the list behind librarything is - do they have 1940 agriculture books, in which case the Rural Heritage Museum could use this?

Rollyo was interesting - I looked at the created search Free photos. I am always on a search for a historic photo with no copyright. This worked quite well and I found some useful photos on flickr which I hadn't really thought to use for historical photos. I liked that you could see what the components of an already constructed search were and so select.

My own creation on Rollyo was not successful, or nothing that I will use again. I tried a search that included photos on American Memory on the Library of Congress website and the New York Public Library digital library. I found as I have elsewhere that I like the way LC or NYPL presents their images and that the mish mash on Rollyo, while it may find images, is not very appetizingly served
